Finding Renewed Energy: Leaving Government, Embracing Entrepreneurship, and Returning to School as a Mother of Children with Disabilities

In the journey of life, there often comes a time when we realize that the path we’re on no longer resonates with our true desires and aspirations. For me, that moment came when I was juggling the responsibilities of a government job, the challenges of being a mother to two boys with internal disabilities, and my passion for entrepreneurship. As if that wasn’t enough, I also ventured into the world of DIY credit repair and financial wellness. And amidst it all, I made the bold decision to return to school for nursing. Here’s my story of how leaving my government job became the catalyst for reclaiming positive energy and embracing a multifaceted life.

My journey into entrepreneurship began as a creative outlet. Amidst the demands of my job and the complexities of parenting children with disabilities, I found solace in crafting sparkling rhinestone bracelets. What started as a hobby quickly blossomed into a thriving business, thanks to the encouragement and support of friends and family. Creating something beautiful with my own hands not only brought me joy but also ignited a passion for entrepreneurship that I never knew existed.

However, as my business flourished, I found myself yearning for more flexibility and autonomy. The rigid structure of my government job no longer aligned with my entrepreneurial spirit and desire for personal growth. Moreover, as a mother, I felt the need to prioritize my children’s well-being and be present for them in ways that my job didn’t allow. So, I took a leap of faith and bid farewell to the security of my government position.

Leaving my job was both liberating and terrifying. But with the support of my loved ones, I embraced the uncertainty and poured my heart and soul into building my businesses. Alongside my sparkling rhinestone bracelets venture, I delved into the world of DIY credit repair and financial wellness, leveraging my own experiences and knowledge to empower others on their financial journeys.

Despite the challenges of entrepreneurship and the demands of motherhood, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and energy. Every sale, every satisfied customer, and every positive testimonial fueled my determination to succeed. And just when I thought my plate couldn’t be any fuller, I made the decision to pursue my long-held dream of becoming a nurse.

Returning to school for nursing wasn’t a decision I made lightly. It required sacrifices and careful planning, but I knew in my heart that it was the right path for me. As a caregiver to my children and a business owner, I’ve developed invaluable skills in empathy, resilience, and time management—qualities that will serve me well in my future career as a nurse.

Today, as I navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship, motherhood, and education, I am grateful for the journey that led me here. Leaving my government job wasn’t just about regaining positive energy; it was about embracing the freedom to pursue my passions, follow my dreams, and create a life filled with purpose and fulfillment. And as I continue on this journey, I am excited about the endless possibilities.
